Bird watching & wildlife

All Hallows is a hidden hamlet on the edge of historic, Wimborne St Giles.  A peaceful village that offers unspoilt views.  Here you will discover a mixed habitat for farmland, garden, water meadow and river dwelling birds.  As well as birds of prey including Red Kite and more familiar raptors such as Barn Owls.

Starlit skies and outstanding natural beauty

Cranborne Chase AONB has been recognised for its minimal light pollution.  The very first National Landscape in the country to be designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve in 2019.

Just footsteps from your door, and depending on the season, you may discover:

  • Red Kite roosting in the Lime Trees along the river bank
  • A Kingfisher diving into the water beside the bridge
  • Egrets and Heron across on the water meadows
  • The Owls hunting and swooping into the Barn Yard before disappearing into the opposite barn or nesting box
  • Yellow Wagtails building a nest in the well
  • House Martins, Swallows & Swifts circling the barn yard and nesting around the farmhouse

Wander along the footpaths a little further and you may find:

  • Lapwing gathering beside the mouth of the River Allen at Monkton Up Wimborne
  • Look up and listen to the Skylarks as they fly across Wyke Down
  • Short-eared Owls and Sparrow Hawks hunting across Wyke Common
