Hearty and filling, our favourite traditional Irish dishes especially to commemorate the patron saint of Ireland.
Celebrate the best of Irish this 17 March, with a batch of scones for breakfast, soda bread for lunch or a flavoursome slow-cooked supper.
Wrap your freshly baked soda bread in a linen cloth whilst is it warm from the oven. This helps to develop the crust. To store our loaves and scones, we love these beautiful sustainable bread bags made in Cornwall by Helen Round. More details here …
To get ahead with your breakfast scones, the butter (or plant based alternative) can be rubbed together with the flour in a large mixing bowl. Leave this overnight, mix in the buttermilk and bake in the morning. Or bake your scones when the oven is already in use and freeze on the day of baking. Simply defrost and warm through gently in the microwave or AGA simmering oven. Our reusable and washable bowl covers are idea for preparing ahead of time. More details here...
