Date: AGA cookery demonstration and lunch.  These events are available to book every Thursday, on a date to suit you along with your five guests.  The class includes freshly ground coffee and shortbread on arrival, a two hour cookery demonstration by Lisa Osman followed by a two course lunch with a complimentary glass of wine or apple juice.  Please contact us for the latest availability.

Time: Gather a group together and please arrive by 10.30 am for coffee and the cookery demonstration will start by 11 am.  Lunch will be served by 1.15 pm and the event will draw to a close by 2.30 pm with the opportunity for any final questions during coffee.

The cost is £250 for a maximum group of six guests.

A sociable and informative cookery demonstration in the farmhouse kitchen.

Gather a group of your friends together for a seasonal cookery demonstration, followed by a delicious lunch, cooked especially for you.

The ingredients will be freshly picked from our garden, or delivered early that morning, from the Walled Gardens of St Giles House.  Eggs will be freshly laid from our own hens, whilst locally reared meats will have been collected especially for your event, from Six Penny Handley. The fish delivered straight to our door, landed from the Cornish coast or shellfish caught in Poole Harbour.

Whether you love your AGA, dream of installing a cast-iron stove in your own kitchen or prefer the electronic control of conventional cooking,  this is a perfect opportunity to gather a group of friends together.

We will share lots of cookery hints and tips that will be relevant for every one who loves to spend time in their kitchen.  For AGA owners, we will chat through the rules of the traditional stove, as well as discuss the benefits of the new generation cookers.

How the day works:  

Gather a group together, select a date and choose from one of our themed events below :

  • Picnics and party food – August and September 2019
  • Autumn bounty – October and November 2019
  • Slow cooks and store cupboard treats – January and February 2020
  • Forced rhubarb and tender shoots – March and April 2020
  • Spring greens, sour berries and elder flower – May and June 2020

Please arrive from 10.30 am. The kettle will be on and there will be freshly ground coffee or a pot of tea waiting ready to be poured.  Following introductions and the chance to catch up with your friends, settle down beside the AGA and watch Lisa prepare your lunch.

Our philosophy is to teach skills rather than recipes, so we will also share tips on how dishes can be adjusted to take account of the seasons and your store cupboard.

What we will make during the class:

This will be dependent on the best available produce from the All Hallows garden and our suppliers the day before your event.  You can be guaranteed that whatever we select,  it will be ‘squeaky’ fresh and locally sourced as far as possible, along with a few treats from further afield chosen from our favourite artisans.  Please do let us know at the time of your booking whether any of your guests have any dietary requirements or preferences. 

As the demonstration draws to a close, you will be invited to make your way to the dining room and lunch will be served with a complimentary glass of wine. 

The event will draw to a close by 2.30 pm.
